Dave had to be in Portland this week with work, so Torin and I drove up to Mt. Vernon and exchanged Parker for MeMe and then the three of us took the train to Chicago for a Girls Trip! We ate at American Girl, visited Millennium Park, and shopped till we dropped. (Seriously, Mother and I can work the Magnificent Mile like nobody’s business, and we were pleasantly surprised that our third generation shopper easily kept up the pace. And for the record, we dropped most of our money at H&M and Filene’s Basement.)
Here are Torin & MeMe waiting for the train:

Ahhhh… her reaction was priceless:
So of course we had to splurge for a new doll. We couldn’t let Kristen be an only-child. The new doll’s name is Dionne. (Bonus points go to those of you who know where the name came from. Family members are not eligible to guess.) This next picture was taken just before dinner at American Girl. Dolls are provided with high chairs to eat at the table. Pictured (L to R): Dionne, Torin & Kristen:
After dinner, we took a carriage ride around the city. Torin and I are in the back:
This is The Bean in Millennium Park – Torin is at the bottom. It’s kinda cool.
One last shot – this photo taken by Torin. We were on the train headed back home – hot, sweaty, dirty, and tired – but thrilled that we’d had such a wonderful time. More Chicago pictures can be found on my photography blog: http://jadie1.wordpress.com/2008/06/14/chicago/
Meanwhile, back at the farm, Parker was busy doing boy stuff with PaPa and Uncle Wayne like baling hay, peeing off of the deck, and eating in his underwear.
