Motivation is the key.

Torin is the typical first child.  She loves schoolwork, loves memorizing her Bible verses, loves doing math problems, and loves anything that involves learning.  Parker, on the other hand… we’re still trying to get him to count to 20 without messing up.  He always skips the number 15.  We have no idea why.  He jumps from 14 to 16 almost every time.  Dave has been working with him during the evenings, but Parker doesn’t even really want to try.  Until today.  I found the best motivation — OREO COOKIES.  And yes, I realize that these are actually Publix-brand Oreos.  (Don’t judge me.)

First, you dunk it.

Then, you start counting.

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten…

eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, FIFTEEN, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty.

After you’ve correctly counted to twenty, you eat.

It’ll taste so good you won’t be able to stand it.

Then you dunk and count again…

Four Oreos later, you drink the milk.

Life is good.

Very, very good.
